Digladior will bring a professional program for performers to Libušín

Updated: 3 days ago

This year, the Battle of Libušín 2026 will also offer performers a professional Friday program focused on historical combat and its practical interpretation. It will be led by Digladior, one of the largest schools of historical fencing in the Czech Republic, which has long been dedicated to European historical martial arts, teaching, seminars and popularizing this field.

From demonstration to practice

Libušín is not just about the spectator experience, but also about the people who create the event. That is why this year a Friday block is being created for performers who want to take away more than just an experience from the battlefield — concrete inspiration, new ideas, and a more practical perspective on the historical struggle.

Digladior combines the study of historical sources with live teaching. It focuses on long swords, fangs, daggers, swords and shields, polearms, armoured fighting and medieval wrestling. It will bring to Libušín not just "another program", but the experience of a school that has been working with these topics for a long time in regular classes and specialized seminars.

What can performers look forward to?

The Friday block will be composed according to the interests of the participants themselves. Three seminars with the greatest interest will be selected from a pre-prepared list of topics.

The preliminary offer includes, for example:

  • harness fencing

  • dagger

  • fang

  • long sword

  • sword and shield

  • poleaxe

To select the most requested ones, please take part in our short survey as part of the survey, so that we can correctly select the most requested topics. You can find the survey HERE .

Attendance at the Digladior seminar is FREE for registered festival participants. However, to attend the seminar, you must be properly registered as a festival participant.

The program will also include a shorter lecture with space for questions. The goal is to offer content that is practically useful, understandable, and at the same time open enough to go into more depth according to the audience's interest.

A program for those who want more

The entire Friday block is designed as a professional yet accessible format for performers who want to expand their experience, compare approaches, and look at historical struggle not only as part of a performance, but also as a craft that has its own principles, logic, and development.

Digladior is bringing a program to Libušín that will connect historical sources, practical experience, and live teaching directly in the environment of one of the most important domestic historical events.
