The largest Czech medieval historical festival, the Battle of Libušín, wasfounded in 1991 as one of the first initiatives of its kind inEurope. In 2024 we will be organizing the 31st year of this important event,which has grown over the years to become one of the largest of its kind

species in Europe.

Thanks to the accompanying program and the number of member countries that have joined itwill participate, we can say without exaggeration that this year will be the biggestfestival of its kind in the world in the last few years.

The location and date of the festival are not just a coincidence. The hill, underwhere the Battle of Libušín takes place is dedicated to Saint George, the patron saintknights. His feast day is April 24th. The hill of St. George near Libušín as Moreover, it is connected with the beginnings of Czech statehood, as it isarchaeologically proven that in the 10th century AD there wasthere was a Přemyslid hillfort.

The accompanying program of the entire festival is also worth noting, where you canwatch an archery tournament, visit a children's corner or watcha variety of performances by jugglers, clowns or street artists.

There will also be a performance of medieval torture including a staged execution, and you can spend the evenings with us by the fire or listening to medieval music concerts. You can also make your journey into the past deliciously pleasant in our pub, which offers a rich

selection of drinks and food.

​This year's new event will be a tournament in Knattleikr, a medieval full contact ball game.

The traditional climax of the entire festival is of course a staged medieval battle with the participation of thousands of fighters, in which we will present not only the methods of fighting and military tactics of the various periods of the Middle Ages, but also unique pyrotechnic effects, real stunt performances, as well as drama, suspense and a captivating exceptional spectacle according to a scenario inspired by real events from Czech history.

In the main battle this year, you will be able to watch the captivating legend of a Viking king who lives his brave life full of twists and turns and exciting plots across the centuries.

The Battle of Libušín festival is a return to history full of knowledge, exceptional experiences and extraordinary fun for the whole family, which you cannot miss.
