The Shadow of the Gallows over Libušín: Where Heroism Ends and Pain Begins

At this year's 33rd annual Libušín Battle, prepare for a chilling encounter with the darkest corners of human history – we are opening an exhibition of Capital and Torture Law for you, where the air grows heavy with the scent of fear and the echoes of ancient suffering!
What should you imagine? Forget the fairy tales. This was the workplace of the medieval justice system, where justice was written not with a pen, but with blood and the breaking of bones.
No Romance, Just Raw Craftsmanship
Do not expect a cinematic anti-hero in a cowl, philosophizing about morality at sunset. The reality was far more terrifying—something between a craft workshop, a slaughterhouse, and a courtroom. The executioner was not a crazed psychopath, but a cold official. It’s just that his "office supplies" are things today’s HR departments would rather not even list in a contract. It was a job that made the skin crawl, yet one that society demanded.
Tools That Remember the Screams
In the exhibition, you will stand face-to-face with instruments that make the blood run cold:
The Executioner’s Sword – the last thing the condemned ever saw.
The Spanish Boot and Thumbscrews – masterpieces for those who refused to speak.
The Breaking Wheel and the Gallows – mementos for those who crossed the law.
You will also see the pillory, flogging tools, branding irons, and other equipment of the era's "educational system."
The Middle Ages did not forgive mistakes. If someone stole, murdered, or simply defied the order, they became personally and very quickly acquainted with these devices. It was an education that was public, interactive, and—for everyone present—utterly unforgettable.

When and Where to Meet the Master Executioner?
This dark history comes to life on Saturday, April 18th, starting at 10:00 AM.
In the Camp and Exhibition: Throughout the day, you can study the details of the executioner's craft and listen to expert commentary.
Directly in Battle: Watch the battlefield closely! The Master Executioner and his assistants will appear directly in the heat of the fray to carry out what is necessary.
The professional commentary is provided by Mgr. Martin Foltýn, a leading researcher in the dark alleys of history and a member of an international team conducting archaeological research on medieval execution sites.
History Without Filters
You must not miss this exhibition during your visit to Libušín. This is history without pathos, without myths, and without mercy—exactly as it was. Perhaps the next time you pay a parking fine, you will view it as an act of incredible leniency and tenderness from the modern world.
Join us on April 18th for the 33rd Libušín Battle. If you have the stomach for it.
